about athens-ben epps

Athens-Ben Epps Airport is home to Georgia’s first aviator, Ben Epps, and was the first civilian airport in the state, established in 1919. Today it’s certificated under 14 CFR Part 139 with two runways – with Runway 9/27 the longest at 6,122 feet and recently rehabilitated – an air traffic control tower, aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment, a modern commercial passenger terminal, general aviation terminal, and full services and amenities.

Expertise

MaesAwyr served AHN as co-facilitator, subject matter expert, and technical advisor to Athens Airport Authority on its first-ever Strategic Plan, distilling their ambitious priorities and goals into meaningful and actionable implementation measures, designing and publishing a full-color Strategic Plan brochure along with a two-page summary.

AHN also executed on their priorities of connecting to the local community by creating a social media presence and upgrading their website; allocating resources to manage and maintain while encouraging staff to take pictures of unique moments at the airport to share. Leadership became more visible in the business community, speaking at local organizations and planning for on-airport events to draw folks to the airport.

The Strategic Plan provided AHN the framework to organize, implement, and measure, and report on their goals, even with limited staff, time, and resources.
